Locked out of your condo: which door is the problem?

Being outside the building is different from being outside your apartment. Before arranging a Vancouver lockout visit, identify the barrier: main entrance, parkade access or suite door. Your building manager or concierge may need to organise access through shared areas.

For a suite-door lockout, explain whether the key is inside, missing or not turning. If documents are also inside, discuss how authorisation can be verified during the call.

One building can have several different entrances.

A street-facing business door, a rear service entrance and a residential lobby may all have different access arrangements. Give the specific entrance when booking work, and arrange someone authorised to meet the technician.

For a vehicle in a Vancouver parkade, add the level, row and entrance to the street address. If every car key is lost, mention that when requesting replacement-key service; opening the car is only part of the problem.

A spare key or a change of access?

If you simply need another working key, ask about key cutting. If you no longer know who holds copies, discuss rekeying. Duplicating your current key does not stop an old copy from working.
