Choose around how you use the door.

A keypad lets authorised users enter a code. Connected features such as app access or remote control depend on the specific product and its requirements. Decide which functions you need before choosing hardware.

Tell us if you want to keep an existing exterior handle or mechanical key. Some products replace more hardware than others, and compatibility varies.

A good installation needs a door that works.

The lock must fit the door and the bolt must move properly into the frame. A sticking door or misaligned latch should be assessed rather than hidden by a new device. See door-lock repair if the existing hardware is already difficult to operate.

For a condo or shared building, check with management before purchasing equipment. A suite-door lock does not replace the building’s shared access system.

Plan everyday use and backup access.

Use the manufacturer’s guidance for battery care, backup access and any account setup. Decide who should have access and how codes will be changed when access is no longer needed. Never post access codes in a public review or send them in a general enquiry.
